Ratification Discussion and Vote

Discussion and Voting will occur on 27 March 2023. We encourage the members attending to be on time.

Good day everyone:

As you know, your Bargaining Committee has been hard at work engaged in Collective Bargaining with the City of Regina over the last eight (8) months. We can now report that we have a tentative deal. That being said however, in order for this contract to come into force and effect we need to ratify. Ratification will take place on 27 March 2023 located at Core Ritchie Neighborhood Centre during the following time periods:

  • 8:00 am - 9:30 am - first (1st) round of discussion and vote;
  • 10:30 am – 12:00 noon - second (2nd) round of discussion and vote;
  • 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm - third (3rd) round of discussion and vote; and
  • 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm - fourth (4th) round of discussion and vote.

In order to participate in ratification, you must select and attend one (1) of the time periods. Please arrive at the beginning of the time period so we have ample time to review, we will begin the discussion fifteen (15) minutes after the start time.

If you are wishing to attend during work time you must confirm and get permission to be released for the discussion and vote. Each member must bring photo identification (Employee ID will work) and is only able to attend one (1) of the sessions.

Voting will be by way of secret ballot and we will go through the package prior to voting and field any questions members may have.

The gym area has a set capacity so we ask that work units work out a schedule with their supervisors and stagger attendance throughout the various times.

This round of bargaining is the largest adjustment to our Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) in recent history both quantitatively and qualitatively.

We strongly request and encourage a high degree of member participation in this round of ratification.

Ballots will be tallied later that evening and the results will be communicated to the City of Regina and the results will be posted on our website (local21.ca) that evening or the next day.

Should the vote pass, it will then have to go to Regina City Council for approval which would not happen until the end of April.

If you have any questions or concerns about this process, please contact the Union office.

In solidarity,

Local 21
